There’s little else I enjoy more than heading down to the Grand Teton National Park with my camera in hand and the chance to do a session for a family. It’s even better when they are scheduled at sunrise because then I can truly capture the sheer beauty of the sun rising over the valley and the breathtaking colors slowly cascading down the mountains. That is why I especially loved my time with the Sims, a beautiful family of 4 on a trip through the Tetons.
The session was special for many reasons — the early morning tranquility, the fact that it was Katherine’s, the little girl, birthday, and even the modern Moterra campervan that the family had rented for their trip. All in all, it was one of the more picturesque sessions I’ve captured, and the family was a pleasure to spend time with!
From this session, I loved the way that Katherine wore a skirt that she made especially for her birthday because it reminded me of how excited I used to get as a kid when my birthday rolled around. That’s also why I really adore the solo picture of Katherine posing with a wide smile and her eyes closed because it reflects her childish innocence and really shines the light on her as the most special person of the trip! It gives me such a sense of pride to be selected as their family photographer for momentous occasions such as these.
