I have lived across the country and around the world, but the Grand Teton area has captured my heart. Here you can breathe freely, here you can live openly, here you can love fiercely.

One of the best parts of being a photographer is getting the chance to challenge myself to capture various clients. That’s why when Koda’s session was scheduled, I knew that these rustic pet portraits would be incomplete if we didn’t head into the mountains. Koda was born in El Paso, Texas, and was flown to Jackson via Dog is My CoPilot, where his new family adopted him.

While he has Texas roots, Koda is easily adjusting to the brisk Wyoming winters. In short, he was a ham for this session. I was expecting a goofy, expressive pupper, and he delivered for his rustic pet portrait session. Koda is known for being a loving, albeit a little mischievous. He may have a reputation for exploding cans of bear spray, eating sourdough starters, chasing bull moose, and turning on stoves.

He loves running at full speed outside, solving puzzles, and talking like a Wookie. He’s an A+ snuggler and has made his parent’s lives more exciting and fun.

Schedule Your Rustic Pet Portraits

Pets are kids, too, and there is no reason why you shouldn’t schedule family portraits with them! Animals add so much value to our lives. Whether we are looking for a companion, walking buddy, or just want someone to love, our pets are so selfless for us.

I am starting to see more and more clients request rustic pet portraits and including their furry friends in their sessions. I love that these family members are being included and showcased because they really deserve all the attention!

It was so much fun capturing Koda’s goofy personality with these rustic pet portraits. The Tetons weren’t too bad to look at either.

Do you have a four-legged friend you want to capture? I am experienced in deep ear scratches and am known to sneak treats to the goodest boys.

What really matters is each other.

As your children grow and become who they are meant to be,  you'll want to remember who they were along the way.
