There’s a season with young kids where the days feel endless but the years disappear. The Majewskis are right in the middle of it. Careers pulling them in every direction. A son about to start kindergarten. A daughter about to turn two. And a trip to Jackson Hole that was never about seeing everything, but rather about slowing down long enough to actually be together.
Their boy is all energy and wonder. He loves nature, bugs, karate, and his group of friends at school they call the ninja group. He wants to be a captain one day. And he loves his little sister, which came through in every frame, the way he stayed close to her, the way he watched out for her in the sage.
She’s still in that age where she sings the ABCs and Twinkle Twinkle Little Star and dances without knowing anyone’s watching. The kind of small, perfect thing you think you’ll remember forever but won’t, not exactly, not the way it really was.
That’s why they came. Not for a photo shoot. For a pause. Dad holding his son against the Tetons. Mom carrying her daughter through the wildflowers. The four of them in the soft light of a place that gave them the quiet their regular life doesn’t. This is the summer before kindergarten, before the schedule fills up, before these two little people become bigger ones. And now they have it.
Twenty Years From Now
The Majewskis chose to keep these portraits close. A canvas for the wall. Small prints to update the gallery that grows alongside their family. And a handmade album they’ll pull off the shelf on slow evenings, the kind they came to Jackson Hole to remember.
A year from now, five years from now, these will still be in the rooms where this family grows up together. Still holding the weight of this one summer. Still reminding them how small their kids’ hands were, and how full the days felt. Twenty years from now, their son might stand in front of that canvas and barely remember being that little. But he’ll know he was loved. And he’ll see it.
